May 28 to June 3, 2023 is Access Awareness Week! Access Awareness Week (AAW) is an annual event that raises awareness about accessibility and invites Nova Scotians to join efforts to make our province more accessible.

This year’s Access Awareness Week theme is "Access includes Everyone - Moving the Bar on Quality of Life."

Veteran Recognition Banner Program

Honoring Our Local Veterans - Sponsor a Banner!

We're thrilled to announce that we are once again providing a special opportunity to pay tribute to our beloved local veterans, through our Veteran Recognition Banner Program.

We invite you to become a sponsor for a banner that will proudly display the name and photo of a friend or loved one who served our country.

Sponsorship Details:
🔹 Each banner sponsorship costs $150, which goes toward the production and installation of the banner.
🔹 The banners will be prominently displayed throughout our village before, during and after Rememberance Day, serving as a powerful reminder of the dedication and bravery of our veterans.

We encourage you to share this opportunity with friends, family, and neighbors who might be interested in paying tribute to a veteran they hold dear. Together, let's ensure our community never forgets the sacrifices made by these honorable individuals.

Two candidates to be elected to serve three-year terms ending June 2026

Nominated candidates:
- Hema Chopra
- Dwight Giddens
- Tim Shea

Election dates:
The Village will hold two days of voting at H. Douglas Boyce Village Hall, 69 Pictou Road, Bible Hill, as follows:
- Advance Poll - Tuesday, June 6, 2023, between the hours of 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM
- Election Day - Saturday, June 10, 2023, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

To vote, a person must, as of advance polling day
- be a Canadian citizen;
- be at least 18 years old;
- have been ordinarily resident in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia for six months; and
- be entitled to be registered on the list of electors to vote.

Local Artist Banner Program

Calling all local artists! 🎨📣

Are you ready to make your artistic mark on our streets? We're excited to announce our Local Artist Banner Program seeking YOUR artwork to bring color and vibrancy to Bible Hill!

If you're a talented artist who loves showcasing your work, this is a chance to shine! We're looking for eye-catching designs to be featured on street banners on Main Street and Pictou Road in the Village! Selected designs will be transformed into beautiful banners that will adorn our streets and celebrate our local talent!

Feel free to tag and share this post with any local artists you know, because the more, the merrier! Let's support and promote our local art scene together!

Here's how you can participate:
1️⃣ Create a design that represents the spirit of our community, its diversity, and the vibrant energy we share.
2️⃣ Ensure your artwork is suitable for a large-scale format and can be appreciated by viewers passing by. Banners are 28" wide by 48" tall.

4️⃣ Include your name, contact information, and a brief description of your inspiration behind the artwork.

Following the deadline, we will post the suitable designs and your name and work's description to our Facebook page, and let the public vote on which submissions they would like to see along the streets! The top 4 designs with the most "likes" by August 15, will be selected to be displayed on our street banners.

Public Notice - Close of Nomination Period

Public Notice - Close of Nomination Period

Following the conclusion of nomination period today at 4:30 PM for two Commissioners to serve on the Bible Hill Village Commission, the Clerk and Treasurer confirms that three nominations have been received. Accordingly, an election will be held to determine the successful candidates.

The nominated candidates are as follows:
• Hema Chopra
• Daniel Dwight Giddens
• Tim Shea

An election will be held as follows:
• Advance Polling Day – Tuesday, June 6, between the hours of 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM
• Election Day – Saturday, June 10, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM
Both polls will be at H. Douglas Boyce Village Hall, 69 Pictou Road.

The Village congratulates Commissioner Tom Burke on his retirement and extends sincere thanks with appreciation for his devoted service to Bible Hill of more than twenty-six years. Commissioner Burke was first elected to the Commission in 1991 and served as Chair from 2010 to 2016. His term will expire on election day.

The Village’s annual meeting is being held on Monday, June 5, at 7pm, at H. Douglas Boyce Village Hall, 69 Pictou Road, Bible Hill. All are welcome.
